Recycling can be confusing, even for the most environmentally conscious. This crash course provides the low-down on where our recycling goes, why it seems like there’s so many rules, and why it’s worth the work. Learn tips and tricks to recycle right and have your questions answered by an industry professional.

Noon - 2 p.m. | Rambling River Center Banquet Hall (325 Oak St., Farmington)
Bring your gently used and clean Halloween costumes you no longer want to our swap event and bring home items that are new to you! No item donation is necessary to shop the swap; take or bring as much as you want! Please ensure that any items you bring are in fair condition, clean, and usable. Broken, ripped, or stained items not accepted. Event staff reserve the right to refuse any items.

Date October 25 Crash Course: Organics

7 - 8 p.m. | Rambling River Center (325 Oak St., Farmington)
Organics recycling and composting have become increasingly trendy topics in the past years, but what really are they? Learn more about how composting works, how it benefits our community, and how you can easily do your part in this crash course. No yard, money, or effort required! Attendees will have the chance to win a countertop organics bin.

Nov. 4 - 5 | Farmington Maintenance Facility (19500 Municipal Dr., Farmington)
Wondering what to do with your Halloween pumpkins? Look no further, because the City of Farmington will be offering a pumpkin collection the weekend after Halloween! Residents can drop their pumpkins in the labeled containers on Municipal Drive any time Nov. 4 - 5. Painted pumpkins and pumpkins with excessive wax or another inorganic residue cannot be accepted and should go in the trash.

Nov. 13 - Jan. 31 | Municipal Liquor Stores, City Hall, and the Rambling River Center
This holiday season, remember NOT to place any string lights in your curbside recycling bin! String lights get tangled in sorting equipment at recycling centers, causing safety and mechanical issues. Instead, bring them to the collection bins at the Municipal Liquor Stores, City Hall, or the Rambling River Center until January 31, or bring them to the Recycling Zone year-round. Please no cord adapters, plastic rope.

Noon - 3 p.m. | Robert Trail Library (14395 S. Robert Trail., Rosemount)
Get items fixed or mended for free and learn useful repair skills at an upcoming Fix-It clinic. Skilled volunteers help you figure out what's wrong and fix your broken items. Clinics build community and reduce the amount of stuff thrown in the trash.

Need some outdoor winter essentials? Looking to give your gently-used outdoor winter clothing a new home? On November 18, bring your accepted items to the Rosemount Community Center and see what other items catch your eye. You don't need to bring an item to take an item, and vice versa!
