Emerald Ash Borer

Photo of Emerald Ash BorerEmerald Ash Borer (EAB) was recently confirmed in Dakota County. EAB was first discovered in Michigan in 2002, and has since been found in nine surrounding states. To date, there is no known treatment or widespread prevention for this insect.

Trees on public land (parks and in road right-of-ways) will be monitored by city staff, as time allows. The city does not currently inspect trees on private property.

Residents may contact a certified arborist for proper diagnosis of private trees. If a tree on private property is diagnosed with EAB, residents are encouraged, but not required, to report it to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture at 651-201-6684.
