Business Licenses and Permits

Some businesses require a City of Farmington license. The city does not issue general business licenses. The license and permit applications listed below are issued by the Community Development Department and the Administration Department. Because many licenses require a background investigations and/or Farmington City Council approval, the city recommends that you submit your application and payment 30 - 45 days prior to the beginning of your activity. Please mail or return form to City Hall.

Temporary Outdoor Exhibition Permit - Not limited to the following: Exhibitions, carnivals, amusements, rides, circuses, tents shows, street dances, parades and outdoor sales. If tents 200 sq. ft. or larger are used, a tent permit from the fire department is required (no charge with this permit). Fee $50/event.

Home occupation permits

Home occupation permits are issued by the city and fall under two categories; Permitted Home Occupations and Special Home Occupations. This type of permit is approved by the Planning Commission and the information and application can be downloaded on the Home Occupation Permit page.
