Drop-off your pumpkins on Nov. 5 & 6

When the festivities of Halloween are over, you may wonder what to do with your leftover spooky pumpkin creations. Fortunately, the City of Farmington will be offering a pumpkin collection the weekend after Halloween! Residents can drop their pumpkins in the dumpster across from the cardboard containers on Municipal Drive any time from Friday, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 6. Painted pumpkins and pumpkins with excessive wax or another inorganic residue cannot be accepted and should go in the trash. Please do not put anything other than pumpkins or gourds in the container.

Pumpkin collection step-by-step:

  1. Make sure your pumpkin does not have excessive wax or inorganic residue-those that do should go in the trash.

  2. Any time on November 5th or 6th, bring your pumpkin to 19500 Municipal Drive where a dumpster with signage will be located across from the cardboard containers.

  3. Drop your pumpkin in the labeled dumpster and you're done! Disposal is free and the pumpkins will be composted into a soil amendment.
Thanks for using the collection site! If you have questions, contact Violet Penman at [email protected]. This event is partially funded by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Dakota County.
