The open houses provide a glimpse into what working in the Farmington Fire Department is like. In this more informal setting, prospective paid-on-call firefighters will have the chance to tour the fire station, ask questions, watch a quick presentation, meet current firefighters, check out the fire trucks and explore the equipment. Current firefighters will be in attendance to answer questions about the job and the department.
No fire-rescue training is required to be considered for a position as a paid-on-call firefighter. All training is done through the department. Firefighters are eligible for a retirement pension and hourly wage. Spouses are encouraged to attend as a position like this affects the whole family.
