[ARCHIVED] Stormwater Pond Vegetation Maintenance at Jim Bell Park Preserve

Aerial view of Jim Bell Park stormwater ponds

Pending weather and site conditions, city staff plan to perform vegetation removals around the stormwater ponds at Jim Bell Park Preserve this winter or spring. These removals are part of routine maintenance needed to ensure proper drainage and overall functionality of the stormwater pond. Most of the vegetation to be removed is buckthorn, a highly invasive species that displaces native plants and degrades natural ecosystems. Other non-native and aggressive native vegetation may also be removed, along with any plants that obstruct or interfere with stormwater flow. We appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain the long-term health, function, and appearance of the city’s natural spaces
