Rambling River Center Remodel
Rentals
There will be no rentals at the Rambling River Center due to the renovations November 2024 through April 2025. Check back for updates on the progress and dates when the facility will be available for rentals again.
Timeline
Friday, Jan. 10: Demolition of the electrical, lights, duct work, HVAC, and jail holding cells happened over the last few weeks.
Friday, Jan. 24: Demolition of concrete block walls, sawcut and demo floors and in-floor plumbing, install new in-floor piping and temporary fencing and heating happened over the last two weeks.
Friday, Feb. 21: Framing walls, electrical and plumbing rough-ins, steel fabrication and installation, and sawcut door openings, toothing masonry, and masonry install are happening over the next two weeks.
Friday, March 7: Sheetrocking and installation of structural steel has started, roofing materials were received and staged, window and garage door infills began, and weather permitting, roof blocking, and demolition of existing roof will start next week.
Friday, March 21: Enjoy a Virtual Construction Tour of the Rambling River Center
Friday, April 11: Taping, mudding, and priming walls has started, installation of duct work continues, demolition of the old water riser happened, and the new water service was hooked up and started. Painting walls, tiling, and installation of the ceiling grid will start at the end of this week or beginning of next.
Friday, April 25: Parks Maintenance Staff removed the tree, hostas, and decorative block to prepare for construction of the Minnwest Bank Patio at the Rambling River Center. Painting continues this week, installation of windows and plumbing fixtures started, and all the casework has been installed.
Friday, May 9: All windows and doors have been installed, bathroom finishes, cabinets, and countertops are in, work on the Minnwest Bank Patio started, new garage door will be installed next week, and stucco repairs and exterior painting will also start next week.
Friday, May 23: Interior doors, windowsills, and flooring are being installed, acoustic panels are hung, and stucco repairs and installation of new down spouts and flashing are to begin this week.
Saturday, May 31: Substantial completion

Wednesday, June 25: OPEN
Friday, Aug. 8: The Minnwest Bank Patio at the Rambling River Center is finished. The patio furniture will be delivered in a few weeks. Thank you to the Parks Maintenance Staff for all the hard work putting the final touches on the patio making it a beautiful space for the seniors and community!
Wednesday, Aug. 13: The Rambling River Center Grand Reopening and ribbon cutting celebration is Wednesday at 10 am. Please plan to attend and/or stop by for a tour and a piece of cake!
Friday, Sept. 19: The Minnwest Bank Patio at the Rambling River Center (RRC) is nearly finished! Umbrellas will be added to the tables and one more table needs to be delivered. RRC members and Staff will be celebrating and thanking Minnwest Bank for their very generous donation by hosting a patio party on Friday, Sept. 26!
Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024: Minnwest Bank donated $50,000 to the Rambling River Center for the construction of an outdoor patio complete with furnishings.
Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024: City council approved the facility master plan for the Rambling River Center.
Monday, March 18, 2024: City council work session where direction was given to proceed with completing the full scope of proposed renovation work as outlined in the JLG Architect’s planning study as a single-phase project and to include Kraus-Anderson facility condition assessment items.
Monday, May 6, 2024: City council approved an Agreement with JLG Architects for schematic design through construction phase.
Monday, Oct. 7, 2024: City council approved Plans and Specifications and authorized the Advertisement for Bids for the Rambling River Center project.

Monday, Oct. 21, 2024: Required pre-bid meeting
Friday, Nov. 1, 2024: Rambling River Center closed for renovations

Monday, Nov. 18, 2024: City council accepted the bids and awarded a contract to CM Construction Company, Inc. of Burnsville, MN for the project.
Week of Dec. 2, 2024: Preconstruction meeting
January 2023: The city was awarded a FY2023 Community Project Funding grant for $750,000 for the Rambling River Center and Exterior Plaza.
Thursday, April 6, 2023: Congresswoman Angie Craig and Senator Tina Smith visited the Rambling River Center to discuss with its members and Farmington residents the $750,000 grant they helped secure for the rehabilitation of the center.
Monday, Sept. 18, 2023: City council approved a Professional Services Agreement with JLG Architects to develop a facility master plan for the Rambling River Center.
Fire Station 1, 21625 Denmark Ave.
Programs are moving to Fire Station 1, located at 21625 Denmark Ave. beginning on Friday, Nov. 1. Here are a few of the details.
- We will be using the back door and parking is only allowed in the back. Firefighters may have calls during program hours and will need to quickly park their vehicle prior to taking a fire vehicle to the scene. We cannot be in the way.
- For trips and tours, the van/motorcoach will pick up behind the fire station.
- If you are going on a trip or tour with a friend, please car pool as parking is limited.
- Day old bread will still be delivered.
- We will have a minimal amount of puzzles.
City Hall - Room 169
The Jack & Bev McKnight Fitness Center will be CLOSED Friday, Nov. 1 - Tuesday, Nov. 12. It will reopen at city hall starting Wednesday, Nov. 13 in room 169. To access, park on Third Street and when entering city hall take a quick right down the hallway to room 169.
The hours will be 8 am - 4:30 pm.
