The Administrative Division handles the day-to-day operations of the department. It consists of the Chief of Police, Administrative Captain, and three civilian personnel.
Records Management Unit
In addition to handling the department budget and fleet, the Administration Division is also home to the Records Management Unit. The unit is responsible for a wide variety of duties including:
- Providing essential administrative support and services to Investigations, Patrol, and Police Administration.
- Accurately processing, maintaining, and disseminating all police records that include confidential, private, and sensitive data pursuant to Minnesota's Data Practices laws.
- Completing case referrals to the Farmington City Attorney's Office and Dakota County Attorney's Office for review of criminal charges.
- Providing customer service to the general public and other government agencies in person at the Farmington Police Department lobby and over the phone on the administrative phone line.
