Spring Load Restrictions - Annual Overweight Permit

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will start spring load restrictions in the METRO frost zone Tuesday, March 3 at 12:01 am. For more information review the MnDOT Seasonal Load Limits page.

The City of Farmington places spring weight restrictions on city streets in conjunction with Dakota County and the State of Minnesota. Restrictions are put in place in an effort to protect streets which are vulnerable during the spring season. As frost leaves the ground during the spring thaw, high moisture in the gravel limits the load carrying capacity of the pavement. Spring Load Restrictions are imposed to prolong the service life of the street. During spring load restrictions, all city streets have a 5-ton axle weight limit unless otherwise posted. See the following road restrictions map or visit our Geographic Information System Map
