Center Volunteer Opportunities

Rambling River Center staff has the opportunity to work with many gifted volunteers at the center throughout the year. Each year the center honors volunteers at a recognition during National Volunteer Week in April. Call the center for more details or schedule an appointment for training at 651-280-6970.

Rambling River Center members who volunteer are eligible for volunteer bucks.

Job Duties Time Commitment
Supplies Needed
Communication Assistant Posting flyers, calling and/or emailing groups. Notifying Trinity Terrace, Spruce Place, Red Oak Manor, Cameron Woods, Dakota City, Farmington Library, area Churches and Clinics regarding upcoming events.
Min. of 10 days and up to one month prior to special events. Pick up promotional information during office hours and post at various locations at your convenience.
Flyers, tape, push pins, computer and/or phone 
Fitness Room Cleaner Wipe down pulleys with Teflon product, dust, possibly vacuum machines.
Weekly or monthly based on cleaning schedule. Cleaning items are provided in fitness center.
Special Events Assistant Work at various special events/fundraisers. Sell items, buss tables, take tickets, etc.
As special events are scheduled. Provided at each event.
Library Organizer Keep library books neat and in order. Re-shelf items and remove old items for recycling (magazines and newspapers).
Daily or weekly as needed, during office hours. Recycling bin, new magazines, and papers are provided in the library.
Receptionist Answer phones, take registrations, provide phone numbers for other local senior services. May assist with office duties such as mailings, collating, counting, etc.
Scheduled daily usually from Noon – 3 or 3:30 p.m.  Morning help may be needed. Training is required.  Supplies are provided.
Gardener/Flower Care Care for plants both inside and outside of the center.
During office hours. Items provided in utility room.
Prepare The River, newsletter for mailing. Fold and tape newsletter to prepare for mailing.
Scheduled each month usually Wednesdays. Tape, postal trays, newsletter, labels.
Teach a Class Teach a hobby.

Rambling River Center Advisory Board Make recommendations to Park and Recreation Advisory Board and the City Council. Meetings are held the second Monday each month at 9:30 a.m.  Attend special events.
Items needed are provided at meetings.
Trip Chaperone Responsible for assisting passengers on and off bus.  Possibly handle tickets.
As needed. List of participants and tickets provided. 
Bus Driver Take seniors to fun places. As needed. Safety training required.
