Firefighter Dan Strumberger was announced as the Farmington Fire Department’s 2018 Firefighter of the Year at the department’s annual banquet Friday, Jan. 18.

“Dan always has a positive attitude and is a forward thinker,” said Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Allbee. “He never needs to be told what to do and has taken charge at several events we’re involved in. He’s one of those people we can count on without any hesitation. And he has the ability to bond with everyone.”

Strumberger has been a paid-on-call firefighter with the department since 2010. He is a retired Air Traffic Controller and has lived in Farmington since 1996.

“I’m honored to have announced the 2018 firefighter of the year,” said Allbee. “Thank you to the 2017 Firefighter of the Year, Caleb Bolton, and the other members of the committee for their time in selecting this year’s nominee.”
